And you thought you were big

This is the star VY Canoris Majoris. and magnified you can see a tiny little dot we know as the sun. (photo courtesy of Now imagine earth next to the sun, then imagine earth to VY canis Majoris. It was first discovered in 1801. It is a high luminosity M-star and is so far said to be 3000 degrees Kelvin, which i think is 3273 degrees celcius, althought the sun is about 5700 degrees Kelvin (because K=C+273)
